Brand Guidelines
Butter is a proactive restaurant AI advisor partnered with Toast. It doesn't wait for operators to ask the right question — it watches the signals they can't (POS, weather, sports schedules, holidays, social, reviews) and pushes the answer to where they already work: text and a phone.
When a Niners home game is going to slam your bar, Butter tells you Thursday. When Mother's Day brunch is pacing soft against last year, you hear about it in time to fix it. When a quiet underperformer is dragging your margin, the Menu Optimizer surfaces it — and tells you what to do about it.
We didn't build Butter in a boardroom. We built it on the line — after late closes, slammed Fridays and labor overruns that no dashboard caught in time. Butter answers the question every operator asks at 4pm: "What should I do differently tonight?" — and increasingly, it answers before they have to ask.
Butter is positioned as a teammate, not a disruptor. The voice is operator-to-operator: warm, direct, a little cheeky. Confident without boastful. Short sentences. Real specifics. We cite our sources — Weather, Toast, OpenTable — and we recommend concrete actions, not abstractions.
Pull from POS, reviews, weather, events. Surface what changed and why.
See around corners — tonight's cover count, tomorrow's labor gap, next week's slow patch.
Recommend the move. Shift seats, prep more salmon, push happy hour 5–7pm.
Three surfaces. Same intelligence. Pick the one that fits the moment.

A morning brief, a heads-up at 3pm, a calm answer when you ask. No app to open. Where operators already live.
Behind the scenes — the engine watching weather, sports schedules, social and your POS, looking for what matters next.
The Butter wordmark is the primary mark. Use it in Butter Yellow, White, or Deep Teal — chosen by background, never by mood. The app icon is reserved for App Store, iOS home screen, and avatar contexts.

The Butter wordmark is shaped — high-contrast verticals and a soft curving terminal. Crowding it kills the rhythm. These rules keep it readable everywhere.
XXXXX equals the cap height of the lowercase "u". Keep at least X of clear space on every side. No type, edge, or graphic intrudes into this zone.

Digital: 72px wide minimum. Print: 0.75in / 19mm wide minimum. Favicon use is the only exception — use the app icon instead.

Yellow on deep teal/ink. Deep teal on white or yellow. White on teal or photography. Never light-on-light or teal-on-teal.
Use the supplied PNGs in butter-yellow, white, or deep teal. Keep X of clear space. Place on solid or quiet photographic backgrounds.
Recolor the wordmark outside the three approved tones. Don't rotate, skew, outline, drop-shadow, or layer it over busy imagery without an overlay.
Pair the wordmark with the Doomsday display face for headlines and Inter for body. Keep Butter Yellow as the single accent color.
Stretch, condense, or re-typeset the wordmark. Don't combine it with another logo at equal size — Butter is always the host or always the guest, never tied.
The palette feels like an evening kitchen pass — dark blue-green midnights, a single warm key light, and just enough peach for warmth. Use butter yellow as the accent. One pop per surface; don't dilute it.
Doomsday Medium carries every headline — slightly geometric, condensed, calm. Inter handles body, UI, and the all-caps eyebrows that punctuate every section. Tight tracking on display (-0.02em). Wide tracking on eyebrows (0.2em).
